Contributors can include author, illustrator, and/or other parties involved in the creation of an item. If supplied by the publisher, contributor information can also include a short bibliographic narrative for all contributors for a product as well as individual contributor notes. In most of our packages, a product can have up to 3 contributors assigned, depending upon how many the publisher sends to us in the title information. Some of our packages are limited to one contributor (usually the author).
Basic Contributor Info: Name, hometown, state, birth year, death year, affiliation
Contributor Note: A short, biographical narrative about a contributor by product.
Biographical Note: The Biographical Note is about all contributors for a specific product. It is NOT linked to a single contributor.
Usage Suggestions
- Provide contributor information about a given product.
- Create specific contributor pages that contain a list of products associated with that contributor.
- Create a genre link between contributors to offer suggestions of other contributors in the same genre.
Contributor Availability by Package
Note: Contributor is not a required field, so there could be instances where there is no contributor. In instances where one contributor is included, this is typically the author, though not always. (We send the first contributor listed by the publisher.) For packages that allow for more than one contributor, you will receive multiple contributors if the publisher provides them to us.

- FTP Premium - up to 3 contributors, Contributor Note, Contributor Biography
- Premium Data Slices - up to 3 contributors, Contributor Note, Contributor Biography
- ONIX Standard - first contributor
- ONIX Premium - unlimited contributors, Contributor Note, Contributor Biography (Since there is no limit to the number of contributors that can be passed in an ONIX record, the number of contributors per record depends on what the publisher sends.)
